Amara and Raina begged for a pet, so they got two pet fish. Amara named her fish Bubbly, Raina named hers Rosemarie. Unfortunately, Bubbly died. They buried Bubbly and planted a sign that read "Here lies Bubbly". Bubbly's replacement was another fish named Boboli. But Boboli, along with Rosemarie, died too. So they got a pet chameleon and named it Leland. After discovering that chameleons eat crickets, they go to the pet store to buy some, but the chirping kept them awake at night. Leland never ate the crickets, but somehow, the crickets ate Leland, so they didn't buy any more pets for a long time.
They later bought a king snake and named it Mango. One time, they carried Mango in the car (in a paper bag). Amara took one tiny peek inside the bag, and accidentally released the snake, and let it crawl up into the car seat. When Raina was told that Mango was in the van, she freaked, ran away, and didn't sit in the front seat for a long time (unlike Amara, she is afraid of snakes) until they finally managed to get Mango out of the car.
